His happiness
Sitting on the soft dewy grass book in hand, as the sound of laughter floated past him
He watched as the girls in front of him danced and twirled to the music strummed from within
He laughed as he watched flora try to feed a squirrel
And he thought he might die as Katherine emerged from the rose bushes
Out of the corner of his eye he saw her bustling towards them
As she swayed, his eyes followed her as the rays of the sun set her dark skin ablaze
It made her gleam and the sight humbled him
Kneeling infront of kathy she chided her and checked for bruises
She saw just one and he watched as the tension ease off her shoulders
She pulled the teary eyed child into her arms and whispered sweet nothings into her ears
He smiled at a sight he was used to seeing every night in his bed
He watched her silently as she picked out a colourful bandaid from the case
As she blew softly and placed it onto the tiny cut
She raised her head up and looked at him then her mouth set, her eyes stern
He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed at the lecture he'd surely get
Turning his attention back to her he watched as his girls surrounded her
As they tickled her fiercely and she screeched in laughter
His heart warmed at the sound
It was the music to which his soul sings and his demons danced to
He watched as they play fought, blurring into a mass of dark curls and pretty dresses
He felt his chest expand just sitting there
Wondering if he had saved the country in his past life
To have been rewarded with them, the purest forms of happiness.
You're my happiness
