Her sacrifice

In a brightly lit room filled with gadgets and gizmos and white tiled floors
The tortured scream tore out of her chest and bounced of the walls
Masked faces hovered all around her shouting directly at her but voiceless
She had this incessant ringing in her ears
Sweat beaded on her forehead
She heaved a breath
And with all the strength left in her weakened limbs she gave her last great effort
Her head rolled slightly to the left
Red spots filled her vision
No, the formally white tiled were stained crimson
The masked faces began gesturing again but she couldn't move
She was bone tired and to weary to carry on
Then she heard the little cry from the corner of the room
The source was surrounded by tall people in blue
She removed her eyes and placed it on the ceiling
Though her thoughts lingered
Then they turned to face her
Fear filled her mind and panic embraced her
She didn't even know when she emptied her bladder
They were by her side in minutes placing a bundle in her arms
Confusion filled her mind then
She looked down and saw the tiniest person she'd ever seen
The face was red and pinched and he must've been crying cause his mouth kept moving but the ringing hadn't stopped
Her first thought then was that he must be cold
She was freezing
Her eyelids were drooping, I need some sleep she thought
But they wouldn't take the tiny human from her
The masked men had unmasked themselves and were smiling at her
She felt so sore everywhere her muscles were cramping from lactic acid build up
Her arms were dead
The bright lights were invading her mind
Suddenly a loud beeping filled the air
And they all sprung to action
They took him from her arms finally
Her eyes felt heavy
She smiled then cause she could finally close them and dream of the masked men and their funny hats
And the tiny human with the red face
She slept.
