Blue

Looking at the Blue ink stains on her hands
He cringed, he hated the color blue
It always reminded him of the skies
The say he looked up to beg God and cry
To plead and bargain for another chance
To build with her a better life
That blue sky with fluffy clouds spread afar
Filling up with smoke as the fire tore the house apart
Running his hands over the burnt skin of his arm
Singed with the pain and regret of the past
Haunted by doe blue eyes set ablaze
By the scent of burning flesh and love set aflame
Throwing a stone into the sea, he watched it skip and sink
Thinking of how his faith had failed him
Turning back to her, he looked deep into her haunting blue eyes
Tears threatening to fall as he recalled similar ones
It wasn't fair, but no one said it was
Pushing past her, he walked away from the shore
He couldn't let it happen, let himself fall in love
Then be left alone yet again to deal with the loss
