Trapped
Startled, she stumbled back
Reeling from the shock of him ever hurting her
Tears threatening as she choked on broken promises
The sweet nothings he showered on a daily basis
Picking herself up from the floor
She looked around the chaos behind the door
The truth no one ever sees or suspects
The hidden scars and memories of burnt flesh
Limping to the shower she let the water cascade
Washing away his touch yet leaving behind the pain
Tears roll down her face, lost in her thoughts
"What did I do to deserve this " she cries out to her walls
Stepping out of the shower she covers up her battle scars
Puts on a smile and tries to avoid thinking about the past
Why don't you just leave? Her friends ask
Because she knows he loves her with all his might
Clearing away the evidence of the apparent fight
The hell through which she is forged and forced to survive
She thinks up ways she would've preferred to live her life
Away from the constant threat and imminent violence
Away from his troubled mind and love so intense
