Beneath the foundation lies skin riddled with acne's indignation
Behind the perfectly  drawn eyebrows lies scars and cuts where the blade carved the arch
Beneath the thickly coated mascara are thin lashes that fiercely curve
Behind the matte lipstick are cracked and chapped lips
Beneath the winged eyeliner are slightly droopy eyelids
Behind the clothes, breaking my skin, decorating my waist are strangely woven stretch marks
The goshi and the broken jaw
These are the things I fight to hide
Cake my face, my skirts high waist  to save my pride
But now after all this time
It hits me and I realize
That these God awful querks
Are more than just flaws
They are uniquely mine
And they ironically beautify
Me and bathe me in a perfectly imperfect light
