Scars

Jumping she turned around startled
To look upon the one who left her frazzled
Staring into his eyes she let her confusion show
Let him know how much his attention affected her so

Turning away from him she tried to leave
Holding her hands he turned her back to him
Looking at her like he knew her deepest sins
Cowering away she moved to protect her secrets

Touching her softly like a feather upon skin
Looking at her like the sun sets at her feet
Shrugging away his touch she backed up from him
Before he saw how ugly and vile she truly was within

The jagged lines that etched across her soul
Tagging her, marking her for life and stunting her growth
The horrible things she had to endure to earn her right
To break free from under his hold and live her life

Tears from in her eyes as she picks up the pace and runs
Runs away from his sympathetic eyes and caring words
Before she opens up herself to him and gets hurt
By his reaction to the scars of her mind that run deeper than all
