Deflating Ego

They sat on the bed, backs towards each other
He couldn't see her tears or her shaking shoulders
She didn't witness his pain or his fallen countenance
They were together yet world's apart
Separated by a mountain of hurt and misunderstandings
Plagued with thoughts of up and leaving
He doesn't understand what I'm feeling
She doesn't quit with the nagging
They were hurt yet not communicating
Tied together by a love once amazing
Now they're stuck together not moving
Being together yet hardly speaking
Staring at each other not talking
She wants him to stay
He doesn't know the way
To bring back those perfect days
Full of joy, laughter and childish games But now everything is falling to pieces
And they can't do anything but watch it crumble
After weeks of worthless musings
He realized what he should have been doing
Slowly he stretched out his hands to hold hers
Shocked yet elated she grabbed it n squeezed hard
Simultaneously they smiled
Despite all around them their world is destroyed
They had each other and for now that was enough
