FRIENDSHIPS are overrated
Days spent filled with idle chatter
Yet can't divulge things that truly matter
Changing attitudes and mannerisms to fit in
Forgetting who you truly are within

LOVE is overrated
Pouring out of soul, of self to "the one"
Only to be left broken, haunted and alone
Clamoring for perfection to make em stay
Only to be jilted, betrayed like you were standing in their way

DREAMS are overrated
Struggling, fighting to achieve it
But burning out before even being lit
Forgetting about now and focusing on the future
Without enjoying the now, without taking a detour
Yet ending up alone, successful yet lonely and a bore

FASHION is overrated
Indecency sown as dresses thrust upon our generation
Forgetting, ignoring that we are God's own nation
Bright colors and nudes, making fashion statements
Dressing for the sole purpose of gaining whispers and stares

PEOPLE are overrated
Everyone trying to get what they want
Driven by selfish desires, ready to tease and taunt
Ready to mock and laugh at another's pain
Yet praying avoid loss and only gain
Lip locked, tongue tied when faced with your grief
Whispering meaningless words that satisfy their own needs
Never constant, never there through trials and troubles
But are present to laugh and giggle while you stumble
